16 to 18 year old can Drive Electric Scooters
As part of India’s goal of becoming a fully electric country by 2030, 16-18-year-olds can drive e-scooters.
Aimed at boosting electric mobility between first-time motorcyclists and automotives. An initiative has been taken to allow 16-year-olds to drive e-scooters after the introduction of green license plates for electric motor vehicles.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways amended the Union Motor Vehicle Rules 1989. The ‘category L1’ motorcycle has been modified to make it easier for 16 to 18-year-olds to ride e-scooters. Under the current law, youths between the ages of 16 and 18 are allowed to ride two-wheelers with 50 cc engines.
The minimum age to apply for a private motor vehicle driving license is 18 years. As per the Central Motor Vehicle Eighteenth Amendment Rules, 2018 notified in the Gazette on 20th December, between the ages of 16 to 18 years can get the license for an electric scooter at a maximum speed limit of 70 km/hour.

The Miso electric moped has been introduced by Gemopai Electric.
