The electric arm of energy storage solutions provider Okaya Group has launched a new Okaya Freedum electric scooter. The two-wheeler will be available in several variations. It includes a model offering a maximum range of around 250 km on a single charge, the company said.
Okaya Freedum
Okaya Freedum will be the third electric scooter in the Okaya range which already includes the AvionIQ series and the ClassIQ two-wheel electric series. The bike will be launched with lithium-ion and lead-acid battery options. Available with the choice of a lead-acid or a lithium-ion battery, the Okaya Freedum is a low-speed scooter, with a top speed limited to 25km / h.
This means that it cannot claim any subsidy from the central government and the state. It is aimed at those who want a two-wheeler that can be driven without acquiring a driver’s license. Okaya is working on launching a high-speed version of the Freedum in the coming weeks.

The scooter rolls on 10-inch wheels with a telescopic fork at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear. The features of the Okaya electric scooter include a digital instrument console, wheel lock, anti-theft alarm, regenerative braking system, and forward / reverse mode.
The scooter is based on a tubular frame suspended from telescopic forks at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear, and the braking functions are provided by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

Okaya Freedum will be launched in four variants, including low and high-speed versions with a maximum range of around 250 km per charge.
Okaya Freedum manufacturing
The company already sells two electric scooters: the AvionIQ series and the ClassIQ series.
Okaya said the company will manufacture its new scooter at its manufacturing facility based in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
Price and Colours
Prices for these scooters in India start at Rs 69,999. It was launched in 12 color options. The company also plans to launch more powerful electric scooters and bicycles in the near future.
Top speed
The maximum speed of this electric scooter is 25km / h. This scooter is equipped with disc and drum brakes. The Okaya Freedum LI2 has a 250W BLDC hub motor. It is powered by a 48V 30Ah battery. This scooter can cover up to 7080 kilometers on a single charge.
It takes approximately 4-5 hours to fully charge, and you can do it at home. The scooter has features like a digital display, telescopic front suspension, monoscopic rear suspension, LED headlight, LED DRL, remote lock / unlock, and wheel lock.

The Okaya Freedom LA2 has a 250W BLDC hub motor and a 48V 28Ah VLRA (C20) battery. This scooter can travel up to 5060 kilometers on a single charge. It takes 810 hours to fully charge the battery.

The company has announced plans to launch 14 new products, including a high-speed motorcycle and specialized B2B vehicles, during the current fiscal year.
