One of the most well-known SUV manufacturers in our market, Mahindra & Mahindra is now preparing to rule the battery electric vehicle (BEV) market with the introduction of its Mahindra Electric SUV brand-new Indian Global (INGLO) platform. Mahindra’s 5 Upcoming SUV, future electric models from the firm, and two electric brands—XUV and BE—will all be built on the brand-new platform. The XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09 are the five new BEV ideas that are revealed today; all of these Mahindra’s 5 Upcoming SUV will be supported by the new INGLO platform. Three more will follow between 2024 and 2026, with the first of these Mahindra 5 Electric SUV hitting the road in 2024.

Mahindra Electric SUV

Mahindra’s 5 Upcoming SUV will be unveiled by Mahindra & Mahindra for the Indian market. Over the course of the following four years, the corporation is anticipated to gradually introduce these SUVs to India. Mahindra has launched the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09 under the two sub-brands. Except for the BE.09, Mahindra will introduce all of these Mahindra 5 Electric SUV between 2024 and 2026, with the initial introduction taking place in India.

Mahindra may have been a little late to the electric car party, but the company has made every effort to make a splash with its debut. With Mahindra’s 5 Upcoming SUV and two sub-brands, Mahindra will give present and prospective electric vehicles in India a very tough fight. By 2027, Mahindra projects that electric vehicles will account for one-fourth of its overall sales.

Mahindra XUV.e8

The XUV.e8, scheduled to debut in December 2024, will be the first Mahindra Electric SUV to enter production. This is essentially an electric version of Mahindra’s XUV700, the company’s current top-of-the-line SUV. Although the XUV.e8 is built on the INGLO platform, it shares many conceptual similarities with the XUV700, including the same three rows of seats and fundamental design elements.

However, enough changes have been made to the design to distinguish it as an EV. Full-width LED light bars that retract into the bumper and a covered front grille give it a fresh look. The face is characterised by a strongly curved bonnet, headlamps mounted on the bumper, and angular cuts. The rear end, on the other hand, resembles the XUV700 with an ICE engine quite a bit.

The XUV.e8 measures 4,740mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,760mm in height, according to Mahindra. It will feature a 2,762 mm wheelbase. In comparison to the XUV700, the XUV.e8 will be 45mm longer, 10mm wider, and 5mm taller, although the wheelbase will only increase by 7mm.

Additionally, Mahindra has stated that it would include an all-wheel drive system and a battery pack with an 80kWh capacity. Power outputs will range from 230 horsepower to more than 350 horsepower.

Mahindra XUV.e9

In April 2025, the second XUV.e9 model will be released. It’s a Mahindra Electric SUV with a coupe-like design rather than the electric version of any existing model. The XUV.e9’s measurements have been revealed by Mahindra to be 4,790mm long, 1,905mm wide, and 1,690mm tall. The wheelbase of the XUV.e9 will be 2,775mm. The XUV.e9 will be a 5-seater vehicle as opposed to the XUV.e8.

Its appearance is influenced by the XUV Aero concept, and its LED lighting components, bumper-mounted headlamps, and closed-off front grille share some characteristics with the XUV.e8. The coupe-like shape at the back and the short, flat tail portion, however, are what set it apart. It also has prominent gloss-black cladding all around, which the XUV.e8 lacks. It will most likely have the same technical specifications as the XUV.e8.

BE SUV

Mahindra BE.05, BE.07 & BE.09

A new BE range of Mahindra Upcoming Electric SUV could be introduced beginning in December 2024, following the XUV Electric line-up. The first of the group is BE.05, which measures 4370mm in length, 1900mm in width, 1635mm in height, and 2775mm in wheelbase. It is also the most significant of the BE range despite being the smallest. We anticipate it to compete with our MG ZS EV in India. In the purest sense, BE.05 is a Sports Electric Vehicle (SEV), making it a distinct category. A racing-inspired bold design is also present.

The next section, BE.07, emphasises family use. It measures 4565m in length, 1900mm width, 1660mm height, and has a 2775mm wheelbase.

With adaptability, customizable profiles, and crafted multi-sensory experiences, it delivers family space and a first-class experience. Last but not least, there is the BE.09 Coupe electric SUV, which represents all Mahindra Upcoming Electric SUV in the BE family. Its size has not yet been made known. But low height and broad dimensions are to be anticipated. Mahindra has announced that its new INGLO platform will have a battery capacity ranging from 60 kWh to 80 kWh. We may anticipate that the entry-level BE.05 will receive a 60-kWh battery pack while the top-of-the-line XUV.e9 and BE.09 will receive an 80-kWh battery pack.

According to Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director Auto and Farm Sectors at Mahindra & Mahindra, the future-ready INGLO platform, two new exciting brands, and the Heartcore design philosophy all support our vision of Born Electric. The five Mahindra Electric SUVs provide a clear picture of our strategic direction and reflect the adventurous and racing-inspired Mahindra mentality. Not only do we want to electrify the world’s highways, but also the hearts and minds of SUV enthusiasts in India.
