2022 Honda Civic, Price, Interior, Hatchback & Sedan

2022 Honda Civic Sport

While past generations of Honda Civics were more expensive, the newer models are a better value for the money because they have more features and are more technologically advanced. Subcompact sedan and hatchback versions of the 2022 Honda Civic are available at a starting price of $22,550 and $23,550, respectively. If you are looking for a proficient daily driver that is amazingly frugal and also quite fun to drive, the Civic ticks all the boxes.

The design of the interior and exterior has been entirely reworked, making it appear more modern and futuristic than the previous version. There’s also a user-friendly infotainment system, a comprehensive list of standard safety features, and a roomy interior. Also available are the sporty Civic Si and Type-R variants for those with a taste for the fast and the beautiful. Before you buy the 2022 Honda Civic, here are some things you should know about it.

Honda Civic Sedan

Honda Civic 2022 Looks

The 2022 Civic offers a fresh, appealing interior that emphasises simplicity, despite its more conservative exterior. For an overall score of 8, we award it one point for the outside and two for the interior. Although its sleek proportions won praise, the last-generation Civic’s bewildering array of cutlines was widely derided as an eyesore. We praised it for its clean lines but berated it for its disorganised appearance.

With a lowered hood and more relaxed roof pillars, it’s now more subdued, making the design more pronounced. Even the cat-eye style on its side rear windows has developed, making it look more refined. Aside from spoilers, emblems, gloss black trimming, and body kits for sport models, the Civic is better off in its standard form without the high-output engines.

Honda Civic Engine

2022 Honda Civic Engine Performance

It’s not particularly fast when it’s in stock form. The 158-horsepower 2.0-liter inline-4 in the Civic LX and Civic Sport, as well as the CVT on both models, provide adequate acceleration. It gets off to a slow start, and the CVT allows the engine to spool up and settle in a powerband where noise is more of a nuisance than speed. However, even with the Civic’s original weight of 2,877 pounds, the Sport mode requires careful merging and passing strategy, even if the driver selects it.

The happiest end of the performance spectrum is represented by the 3,077-pound Civic Touring. From the 2021 model, it has a six-horsepower and 15-lb-ft-torque boost to its 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine. This year’s turbo version doesn’t feel all that different from last year’s, but it has more confidence in its power. A lot of the exciting things are on hold as we wait for Civic Si and Type R models to return.

Fans of the 6-speed manual transmission will be happy to know that the hatchback’s Sport and Sport Touring models come standard with a 6-speed manual. In particular, the turbocharged engine, which doesn’t truly open up until 4,000 rpm with the previous transmission, is considerably better suited to this new transmission.

2022 Honda Civic Seats

Honda Civic 2022 Seating Comfort

With a wheelbase of 107.7 inches and a total length of 183.3 inches, the 2022 Civic no longer qualifies as a compact. The LX variant features manually-adjustable fabric seats for the front passengers, who get a broad perspective of the road thanks to the car’s low dash and large windows. The Touring offers power front seats and leather upholstery, while the EX has heated front seats. Even though the 2022 Civic’s backseat is shaped for two people, there’s enough room to fit a third person in the middle for a third person to sit comfortably.

Honda Civic 2022 Features

In terms of features, we give the 2022 Civic a score of 8 out of 10. It’s a terrific deal because it comes well-equipped out of the box and has superb infotainment. Despite this, it has a mediocre warranty and a limited set of options for each trim level.

The base Civic LX costing $22,695 includes power steering,  16-inch alloys, four-speaker audio, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen. The Civic Sport priced at $24,095, which adds 18-inch wheels and an eight-speaker audio system, is also a winner.

Honda Civic 2022 Safety

There are no complaints from the NHTSA about the Civic. This year’s Honda Civic sedan and hatchback both received the highest possible ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). At this point, it’s a solid 8 out of 10.

Adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams are included in every Civic as standard equipment. Parking sensors and blind-spot monitors are available on some models, although they’re not standard equipment on the more affordable ones. Outward view isn’t fantastic, but it’s manageable because to the sloping roofline.

2022 Honda Civic Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

EX is the most fuel efficient model of the new Civic, according to the EPA, with 33mpg city, 42mpg highway, and 36mpg combined fuel economy ratings. Whenever we can, we’ll test the 2022 Civic’s highway fuel economy on our 75 mph test route and report back. EPA fuel efficiency data on the Civic may be found on their website.

Honda Civic 2022 India Launch Date

There has been no formal confirmation of its release in the Indian market yet. As far as we know, the new Civic won’t be making its way to the India anytime soon. Because of the lesser demand for the previous version, Honda Cars India had previously discontinued the model.

The iconic Honda Civic compact car gets a major facelift for the 2022 model year, with a more mature exterior, additional amenities, and a refined cabin design. We recommend the sedan model’s well-equipped EX trim, which comes with a slew of extra goodies that more than make up for the price premium.
